February 2004

Washington County Memorial is proud to announce the coming practice of Doctor J. Paul Tindall, D.O.

Dr. Tindall will join the Active Medical Staff of Washington County Memorial Hospital on August 1, 2004. Dr. Tindall, who is from Potosi, and graduated from Potosi High School, is presently completing the third and final year of his Family Practice Residency at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Northeast Missouri State University and graduated from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Please join Washington County Memorial Hospital in welcoming Dr. Tindall to our medical community and to the staff of Washington County Memorial Hospital.

Washington County Memorial Hospital's Respiratory Therapy Department has recently acquired a new piece of testing equipment, the Plethysmograph, commonly known as the "Auto Box". The enclosed pressurized booth allows patients greater comfort while the Respiratory Therapist is performing a breathing test known as a pulmonary function study.

The "Auto Box" allows for a more accurate study for patients with severely diminished lung capacity along with added values not previously available with a normal pulmonary function test. The values acquired with the Auto Box guarantee better diagnostic testing and reports, resulting in more effective follow-up treatments. This piece of equipment is considered the GOLDEN STANDARD in pulmonary function testing.

The hospital is also proud to announce the addition of Richard Cole, MD to our Medical Staff. Dr. Cole will be working as a hospitalist covering certain weekend call obligations for our Active Staff. This will not only alleviate the amount of call coverage that is required of our small active staff but will also be a great service improvement to the hospital and reduce some delays in the transfer of patients from the emergency room.
