February 2006 Newsletter1) Karen Milman, MD, has begun a locum tenens position at Austin Plaza Primary Care until next summer. This has potential to give us high quality care with continuity of care to bolster our Medical staff until the arrival of Dr. Hanna. Dr. Milman is a graduate of the University of Maryland Medical School and completed two years of a four-year residency in Emergency Medicine at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis before deciding to alter her career path. She will begin a track toward a specialty in Preventative Medicine and also pursue a Masters Degree in Public Health next fall. 2) Joseph Williams, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, gave a presentation to the Medical Staff on December 13th, and was approved for Consulting Privileges at the same meeting. Joseph Williams, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, saw his first patients at WCMH on Friday, January 13th. He will see patients here every other Friday and his first day was successful. This has the potential to be a tremendous addition to the hospital’s clinical service capability and a mutually rewarding referral relationship for our hospital and Medical Staff. 3) The final construction meeting and punchlist on the hospital’s construction and renovation project was held on January 24th, occupancy of the new lab and ER areas took place on February 1st. 4) On Thursday, February 9th, the hospital’s new ambulance entrance opened.
