June 2007 Newsletter1) Plans are underway to develop a Chaplaincy Program at Washington County Memorial Hospital. 2) The hospital’s rural health clinics and our Emergency Department are now enrolled in and are using an internet access program run by Missouri Medicaid. This system allows our providers to access some of the care records of Medicaid patients in Missouri, specifically the prescription records and a list of physicians who have provided care to each particular patient. 3) On Doctor’s Day, Friday, March 30th, a breakfast was held in the Board Room for the hospital’s active medical staff and nurse practitioners. The appreciation breakfast was well-received. 4) On Wednesday, February 21st, several employees from the Hospital’s Respiratory Therapy and Radiology Departments provided health checks and educational materials to Missouri Department of Transportation employees at their Belleview facility. The blood pressure checks, oxygen saturation tests, and materials were well-received and much appreciated. 5) The magazine “Home Health Line” published a special issue in April 2007 entitled “Success in Home Care”, in which it ranked Home Health Agencies nationwide in terms of quality improvement and financial performance. The benchmarking vendor Outcome Concepts Systems of Seattle used information from the Home Health Compare data as well as Medicare cost reports to devise a weighted scoring scale to determine the rankings. Washington County Memorial Hospital’s Home Health Agency was ranked in the top 25% of agencies nationwide. Congratulations to Kathy Goodson and all our Home Health staff. 6) Medical-Surgical Nurse Manager Jenni Tucker has resigned and moved out of state. Karen Walls has been named the new Nursing Supervisor for Medical-Surgical Services. Also, Barbara Albert’s last day as Laboratory Supervisor is Friday, May 18th. She is retiring. We are in the process of seeking a new Laboratory Supervisor. Mr. Duncan has appointed Wayne Byington Interim Laboratory Supervisor. 7) Thanks to Cyndi Basler, the nursing supervisors, Amber Coleman, Hopie Jenkins, and Roberta Hornbeak for all their effort to make Nursing Week and National Hospital Week special for employees. Their efforts to help us recognize the dedication of our staff is much appreciated. |
