MAY 2005 NEWSLETTER

The roof repairs on the existing hospital, approved several months ago, are now underway. The construction program continues on schedule. The front canopy is almost complete, and grading, curbing, and sidewalks are scheduled to begin the week of 5-23-05.

The hospital has received a proposed implementation schedule for our PACS system for radiology, with a completion date to be up and running by July 1st. ScImage is the selected vendor for our system, and was the system preferred by our radiologists.

The hospital has just celebrated Nurses' Week and Hospital Week. Thanks to Cyndi Basler, the nursing supervisors, Hopie Jenkins, and Amber Coleman for the many recognition activities.

The state and our county will definitely be affected by implementation of the recently enacted Medicaid cuts. Approximately 90,000 Missourians and over 1,000 Medicaid recipients in Washington County are expected to lose their benefits.

Washington County Memorial Hospital would like to welcome Barbara Ellzey, MD. Dr. Barbara Ellzey has begun periodic relief work at Health Way Primary Care.
