NOVEMBER 2003 NEWSLETTER
The hospital held a 40th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, November 20, 2003 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Much work had to go into the planning and preparation and the response from the community was positive. Activities for the anniversary week included a special meal for all employees and patients served on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 and recognition gifts were given to staff. Other commemorative gifts were given to the public in drawings throughout the open house Thursday evening.
The entire WCMH staff was officially enrolled in the online educational program called CareLearning.com. The enrollment fees for the first year were paid from grant funds allocated to Critical Access Hospitals in Missouri administered by the Missouri Hospital Association. Each employee has a series of mandatory annual courses related to safety, privacy, patient rights, infection control, and other subjects, and with Carelearning these will now be done online rather than assembling the employees for classroom meetings each year. Other courses will be offered to particular groups of employees on specific topics chosen or approved by the hospital. We have established one Carelearning Center in the gray conference room and have numerous other sites throughout the hospital with access to the carelearning programs. Director of Nursing Cyndi Basler is serving as the hospital's Carelearning Administrator and deserves thanks for her efforts to finally get our hospital underway with this very progressive program.
