SEPTEMBER 2003 NEWSLETTER

Washington County Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the addition of two new nurse practitioners to our rural health clinic, Healthway Primary Care. Angela DeClue, RN BC FNP and Lana King, RN BC FNP both began in August at Healthway Primary Care. The two new graduates completed their Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Angie is working full-time and Lana is working part-time. These additions have greatly improved the availability of care for Washington County.

The 9th annual Washington County Health Fair was held Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Potosi Elementary School. Washington County Memorial Hospital has always played a prominent role in the success of the event, which by many estimates was the biggest health fair and best attended yet. The planning committee for this event is made up of representatives from many community organizations.

The Missouri Hospital Association has produced a new report highlighting the health status of Missouri's citizens. The "2003 Missouri Health Status Report: An Overview" is available online at www.mhanet.com . Smoking, diabetes, and coronary artery disease are noted as still being particularly high in Missouri.
